“The removal of Andrew’s titles, rank and privileges effectively established a firewall between Andrew and the monarchy,” he explained.
Business as usual for senior royals
Judith Rowbotham suggested that, in practical terms, royal engagements are continuing uninterrupted.
“There has been no announcement that any formal duties are expected to be cancelled,” she observed.
King Charles attended London Fashion Week shortly after news of the arrest broke, while Queen Camilla continued with scheduled appearances.
Rowbotham added that there has been no significant public movement calling for broader constitutional change.
“The monarchy itself is keeping calm and carrying on,” she said.
Fallout for Andrew’s immediate family

While commentators believe the institution remains stable, attention has turned to Sarah Ferguson and their daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.
Ferguson has been referenced in Epstein-related documents, including past correspondence that prompted public scrutiny. She has previously expressed regret over her association with Epstein and condemned his actions.
Despite renewed attention, Beatrice and Eugenie have only been mentioned peripherally in the files. Authorities have stated there is no known connection between them and Epstein’s criminal activities.
Rowbotham suggested public sympathy toward the sisters may persist.
“There are those who feel they have been well-behaved young women,” she noted, adding that any proximity to controversy stemmed largely from circumstances beyond their control.
She also indicated the King would be unlikely to take further action without substantial evidence.
“I think the King would be reluctant to do so,” she said. “But we will have to wait and see.”
