Beside him, Meredith slightly grinned. Surely, she felt like a victor. But the Moon Goddess promised me that the people who hurt me would pay the price, so I could only just wait for her words to come true as I kept watching the scene before me.
“It’s just one of Charlotte’s schemes,” she said sweetly.
After that, the mistress kept talking, “You know how she could be. This is her way of trying to ruin our happiness.”
Her words were like daggers that kept stabbing my heart without stopping. Oliver’s refusal to accept the truth of my death combined with Meredith’s manipulation really hurt me. I couldn’t help but let out tears because of how easy my life was taken. It was so unfair!
‘I really hoped that they’d be miserable sooner,’ I thought to myself.
The pack members around them were visibly enraged, their frustration boiling over as Oliver’s delusions continued to push them to the edge.
“This is madness,” another elder, Elder Alphonse, said as he shook his head.
The old man then said, “We cannot stand by while you, our Alpha, disregards our Luna for a whore! This is a disgrace an insult to our traditions.”
Despite the elders who voiced their protests, Oliver remained unmoved. The Alpha was like a man possessed as he refused to believe my death. It seemed that he had made up his mind.
As the tension in the room reached its peak, Beta Edward stepped forward. Unlike the tension around him, the Beta was calm and collected as if he tried to calm the pack down.
“Enough,” he said, his voice cutting through the uproar.
‘I wondered what he would say,’ I told myself.
To my shock, the man then continued, “Let the Alpha do as he wishes.”
Immediately, the pack members fell silent. All of them looked at the Beta as if he went insane. Or it might be the case.
“How can you support this madness?” Elder Alphonse asked in a demanding tone.
Elder Albert also protested as he said sternly, “You know that this is very wrong, Beta!”
Yet, Edward’s gaze was steady as he looked at the questioning pack elders.
“It is not our place to interfere in the Alpha’s decisions,” the Beta calmly stated.
He continued, “If Alpha Oliver wishes to proceed with this wedding, then so be it. We have other matters to attend to.”
