The last thing I could hear was what the Moon Priestess said, “May the Moon Goddess deliver your justice to free you, Luna Charlotte.”
As soon as the Moon Priestess said that, Sophia howled for the last time. My wolf came to embrace her death bravely. It was painful for me to lose my wolf, but it still happened.
Soon enough, everything then became very dark in less than a minute. Nevertheless, it became clear to me. I, Charlotte, no longer existed in this very world.
‘Goodbye, my miserable life,’ I said to myself before I let myself be swallowed by the darkness.
Death felt … weird. I felt as if I was falling through a never-ending darkness. The pain from my injuries was still there, but it wasn’t as sharp anymore. Everything around me faded, making me wonder if this was it. Was death always painful like this?
However, something inside me didn’t give up. There was a small spark inside me. Even more shocking, I could hear a whisper in my chest that told me to keep fighting. Was it Sophia?
When I opened my eyes, I was surprised to find out that it wasn’t endless darkness.
I was floating above a scene that crushed my heart.
There was Oliver, my husband, the Alpha, laughing and celebrating with his mistress on Meredith’s luxurious mansion. Meredith, the woman he chose over me, stood beside him, her hand resting on her belly. So, she really was pregnant.
“Congratulations, Meredith!” Oliver said as he hugged her with joy.
Meredith smirked proudly.
“Yes, Alpha. I’m happy too.”
But then she put on a sad face as she asked, “But what about our child? Will our baby be a bastard?”
“Don’t worry,” Oliver said, his voice cold.
The Alpha continued, “I’ll get the Moon Priestess to sever my mating bond with that bitch. You’ll be my Luna, so our child won’t be a bastard.”
My heart shattered again. Someone who was supposed to be my husband was celebrating the child that might be mine, living a life that could be ours. Yet, they took that away from me.
But as I watched, something else caught my eye. The Beta, Edward, stood in the shadows. He was watching them with such a cold, calculating gaze that I had never seen from the usually kind Beta. It was as if he was planning something terrible.
‘What was Edward up to?’ I asked myself.
