Earlier today (19 February), the former Prince and Duke of York, who turns 66 today, was arrested at his Sandringham home on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

The development follows allegations made after millions of pages of documents linked to convicted paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein were released.

Thames Valley Police previously confirmed they were reviewing claims that Andrew shared sensitive information with Epstein while serving as the UK’s trade envoy.

The force has said searches are ongoing at properties in Berkshire and Norfolk, and Andrew remains in custody.

Last year, amid mounting scrutiny over his ties to Epstein, Andrew was stripped of his remaining royal titles.

Sarah Ferguson’s royal status and living situation

Sarah Ferguson also lost the use of her Duchess of York title when Andrew was formally stripped of his royal roles.

Ferguson married Andrew in 1986, becoming the Duchess of York upon their wedding. However, the couple separated in 1992 and finalised their divorce in 1996, after welcoming two daughters — Princess Beatrice, 37, and Princess Eugenie, 35.

Despite their divorce, the 66-year-old continued living with her former husband at the Royal Lodge from 2008 onwards, remaining there for nearly three decades after their marriage ended. That arrangement came to an end in October when King Charles III reportedly served them with an eviction notice.

Her current residence is not publicly known.

Lying low after the arrest

In the wake of Andrew’s arrest, attention has turned to Ferguson and what her next move might be.

For now, according to MailOnline, she is said to be keeping a low profile after recently spending time with friends in the French Alps before travelling to the United Arab Emirates.

The outlet reports that she has not been photographed since September last year and has largely retreated from public life in recent months.

She is also believed to have spent time with Princess Eugenie, who has been in Qatar for work in her capacity as a director at Hauser and Wirth, attending an art fair in Doha.

Ferguson has not issued a public statement regarding her former husband’s arrest, and her immediate plans remain unclear.

Business closures and Epstein links

The arrest comes shortly after reports that six companies connected to Ferguson are set to close, according to filings with Companies House.
