In the search for healthier environments free of harsh chemicals, many people have chosen to make their own homemade air fresheners. Not only are these inexpensive and easy to prepare, but they also offer the ability to customize scents with natural ingredients that you can find in your kitchen or garden.
This recipe that we share below is designed to bring freshness, energy and well-being to the home. The combination of mint and lemon is ideal for eliminating bad odors, while cinnamon adds a warm and comforting note.
In addition, the use of essential oils or dried flowers allows the aromatic effect to be further enhanced, achieving a perfect balance between cleanliness, freshness and harmony. Unlike conventional aerosols, this natural air freshener does not pollute indoor air or leave chemical residues on surfaces.
Ingredients
- 300 ml of warm water
- 1 tablespoon dried peppermint or a few drops peppermint essential oil
- 1 tablespoon dried flowers (such as lavender or chamomile) or a few drops lavender essential oil
- 100 ml of natural lemon juice
- 1/2 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 spray bottle (preferably dark glass to preserve essential oils)
Step-by-step instructions
- Prepare the base infusion: In a small pot, heat the 300 ml of water until it is warm, not boiling. Add the dried mint and dried flowers. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes to let the herbs release their aromas.
- Strain the infusion: Use a fine sieve to separate the herbs from the liquid, making sure that no solid residue remains.
- Mix the ingredients: In a clean bowl, combine the brewed tea with the lemon juice and cinnamon powder. Mix well until the cinnamon is completely dissolved.
- Add essential oils (optional): If you prefer a more intense scent, you can add a few drops of peppermint or lavender essential oil instead of the dried herbs.
- Transfer to the spray bottle: Pour the mixture into the spray bottle using a funnel to prevent spillage. Shake well before each use.
