Ingredients needed:

  • 1 tablespoon cloves (whole, not ground)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon alcohol (can be ethyl alcohol or cleaning alcohol)
  • 1 teaspoon liquid detergent
  • 10 drops citronella essential oil (optional but highly recommended)
  • 1 spray bottle

Step-by-step preparation:

  1. Boil the cloves: Place the cup of water in a pot and add the cloves. Bring to a boil for 10 minutes so that the water absorbs the active compounds in the cloves.
  2. Let cool: Once boiled, remove from heat and allow the infusion to cool completely.
  3. Filter and mix: Strain the preparation and pour the liquid into the spray bottle. Add the alcohol, detergent, and drops of citronella essential oil.
