"Why not? There was no tombstone, and it looked abandoned. I thought Milo could rest here. I even contacted the manager and offered compensation. It was huge money, so the family wouldn't mind. And why are you yelling? You're scaring me!"

I wanted to throw up. I wanted to pull her hair, push her, and bury her instead.

She totally deserved it.

But I had no time for talking. I was frantic, desperate. This was Matthew's place. No one else could take it!

Mad as I was, I grabbed a shovel from one of the guards and started digging, dirt flying everywhere.

My hands were shaking, but I didn’t care.

"Emily, stop it!" Andrew yelled, grabbing the shovel from my hands.

"Andrew, you're a monster!" I shouted back, dropping to my knees, clawing at the dirt with my hands.

For a second, I didn't care how I looked or what they thought. All that mattered was Matthew.

Seeing I was about to reach the urn, Claire panicked.

"Stop her! Don't let her touch Milo!"

The guards then pulled me back like robots. Great. I thought only Claire had a corrupted mind. Turns out there are four of them.

"Let me go!"

I struggled, but they held tight. This couldn't be happening. I felt like I was trapped in a nightmare too cruel to be real.

This time, Andrew moved. He walked over, his eyes like ice.

Then he said, "Claire’s upset because of Milo’s death, and now you're digging up his grave? You’ve gone too far, Emily. Apologize to Claire. Now!"

I never believed a person could be so heartless until I saw one now, not to mention it was my husband.

Had he always been like this? Was I blind? Did I marry a different man back then? Good Lord! I can barely recognize him now.

Andrew, wanting me to apologize to the woman who disrespectfully dug up my son's grave, got me sneering at them like a madman.

"And why would I do that?"

Provoked, Claire interjected.

"Babe, didn't you always say your wife was kind and generous? What happened? Look at her now, acting like a lunatic. If I were you, I would never go out with her. So embarrassing!"

Andrew mirrored Claire's disgust. "Did you hear her? Stop embarrassing me, go home, and be with Matthew. How could you even leave him alone?!"

Oh, wow. Look who's talking.

I stared at him, teeth gritted. "Do you even care about Matthew?"
