"Bitch, why so silent? The truth makes you feel guilty, doesn't it??"
Seeing me silent, the woman holding me down tightened her grip.
"Answer, bitch!"
"I told you, I'm not the other woman! My marriage certificate is in my bag. You should find out who the real wife is!"
One of the women pulled out my marriage certificate from my bag.
"She really has a marriage certificate. Did we make a mistake?"
The support group hesitated for a moment.
However, before they could look at the marriage certificate, Lucy snatched it and tore it to pieces.
"You think you can fool us with a fake marriage certificate, bitch?"
"Ladies, don't be deceived by this woman. She's full of tricks. Otherwise, how could my clever husband fall for her lies?"
Staring at the shredded pieces on the floor, I couldn't help but retort, "You keep calling Hugh Jackson your husband, but do you have a marriage certificate to prove it? Just calling him your husband doesn't make it true!"
Seeing her friends suspected again, Lucy quickly pulled out her wedding and engagement photos with Hugh.
"Hugh and I have been together since college. We got engaged two years ago. If it weren't for his busy work schedule, we would have already had our wedding at home town!"
Looking at the dates on their wedding and engagement photos, I felt a surge of fury.
We had been married for just a year, and Hugh was already cheating!
Connecting all the ignored details, it all made sense. The faint scent of unfamiliar perfume on him, the increasing overtime, the forgotten anniversaries...
I thought these were signs of a long-married couple, believing it would get better once we had kids. But
I never suspected he was cheating and no longer loved me.
"Lucy, do you think tearing up my marriage certificate can deceive everyone into thinking you're not the other woman?
"Whether you're fooled or not, I demand you to leave my house right now, or else I won't be so polite!"
Lucy simply ignored what I said and wandered around my house.
While they were not paying attention, I immediately pressed the property emergency button on the videophone.
But two women quickly covered my mouth and told security it was a mistake before disconnecting the call and pinning me to the ground.
All I could do was pray that the security would notice something was wrong and come quickly!
Lucy was enraged by my attempt to call for help.
