"If you can't bear to throw her out, then leave with her! Since she was born, nothing has gone well for me! She's a jinx! Do you know?"
Their argument was loud. Then Elsie said, "Fine! As long as you promise not to drive me away, I'll do whatever you say! I'll send Harley away in the next few days!" Hearing that, I silently cried and ran back to my bedroom.
I knew why Jack wanted to get rid of me. It was not because he couldn't afford to raise two children. I took a sick leave and went home a day ago and accidentally overheard him and my aunt, Thea Holden, talking in the bedroom.
Thea smiled sweetly and said, "When will you deal with Elsie? I can't wait!"
Jack said, "Wait till she gives birth. In that way, after she dies, you can torture her kids slowly while having her money!"
Thea laughed even louder and said, "You're so good at this! I'll wait for your good news then! After she dies, we'll get married at once. I'll be the evil stepmother. Just thinking about it is so exciting!"
Hearing this, I couldn't help but tremble all over. I quickly ran back to my own bedroom and hid under the blanket, sobbing incessantly.
However, the overwhelming fear made me forget to be quiet when I ran away. Soon, my bedroom door was forcefully kicked open by Jack.
"You damn girl! How dare you eavesdrop! You're doomed!" He viciously dragged me out of the blanket, while Thea cheered him on from the side.
His hands were like burning tongs, tightly gripping my neck. A scorching sensation of suffocation quickly enveloped me.
In the next moment, the sound of the door opening rang out.
Elsie came home.
Thea's expression changed drastically, and she hurriedly opened the window and jumped out.
Seeing that, Jack released his tight grip. He glared at me with resentment and threatened me word by word, "You damn girl. If you dare to say a word to Elsie about today, I'll kill you both!"
I nodded repeatedly in fear.
Then it was the day they threw me away.
For the first time, Elsie bought me a Barbie doll.
Elsie lied to me and said she had to go to work and didn't have time to accompany me on an outing, so Jack would take me.
She was silly. She forgot that she didn't work on weekends.
Before the car started, I whispered to her by the car window, "Mom, Thea and Dad..."
Before I could finish speaking, she immediately interrupted me angrily and loudly urged Jack to take me away quickly.
