“Thalia, this is all my fault. I shouldn’t have come here and caused you to misunderstand Mr. Draven. There’s nothing between us, I swear,” Selene clarified, but I knew she was lying.

Before she could leave, Caelan suddenly grabbed her arm, his glare fixed on me.

"Come on, don’t jump to conclusions. Selene and I have been ex-lovers, but you knew that when you married me,” Caelan added, too defensive. “I admit I had a bit to drink the other day, but it was just a moment of impulse. Who could’ve guessed it would lead to this?”

Upon clearing his throat, he said, “She has a heart condition. Pregnancy is already risky, but it’s her only wish in life. If she loses the baby, all hope is gone. You and Selene are both women. How could you not understand her feelings?”

Selene clung to Caelan’s arm, her grip tight as if drawing strength from him.

I nearly rolled my eyes. I wondered whether Caelan was still using his brain or was just too pretentious.

He blatantly exposed his affair right in front of me, then dared to claim that, as his wife, I should tolerate it. As a woman, I should understand it.

"Caelan, everything that needed to be said has been said. Sign the divorce agreement and do as you wish. This is where we say our goodbyes,” I retorted, still not falling into his trap.

Caelan stared at me, shocked.

He quickly stepped forward, grabbing my hand with a tone full of concern.

"Is this because you’re feeling unwell during the pregnancy? Let’s get Selene settled first and then I’ll buy you medicine,” he replied.

I shook his hand off, my voice steady and persistent, “No, Caelan, it’s over. We’re done.”

I turned away and entered the bedroom, pulling a suitcase from the corner.

"You have half an hour to pack your things. We’ll go to the Civil Affairs Bureau tomorrow to finalize the divorce.”

Caelan, taken aback, blurted out, "No way!"

Selene, hiding behind Caelan, quickly stepped forward, saying, "Thalia, you’ve got it all wrong. I never intended to ruin your marriage.”

She continued, “It’s just that I have congenital heart disease and a sudden miscarriage could be life-threatening. Caelan brought me back out of concern, wanting to care for me. If it bothers you this much, I’d rather not live at all!”

"Baby, I’m sorry. It’s not that Mom doesn’t want you, but someone just can’t stand it and I can’t force you to stay!”
