Accidentally Pregnant by the AlphaChapter 1
It was a crisp Saturday morning. The sun rose brightly, but the cool breeze in the air gave a refreshing contrast. In the bustling Amber Stone Pack, I lived in one of the grandest estates—the Oakley Mansion. Not because I was a member of the prestigious Oakley family, but because I worked as one of their maids.
My name is Dorothy Hunt—an Omega, a maid, an orphan, and still, somehow, a wolfless she-wolf. With those titles, many would think my life is one of misfortune, but I choose not to see it that way. I still find reasons to be content and happy. Besides, I have a job, a warm bed to sleep in, and decent food to eat. And unlike how things used to be for lower-ranking wolves, the Oakley family has been kind to us, treating us with respect.
As I swept the second-floor hallway of the mansion, Serena Oakley—the only daughter of the family—bounced toward me with excitement. She snatched the broom from my hands and set it aside, her eyes gleaming.
"Come on! Let’s go check out the festival booths! They’ve started selling gowns and accessories for the yearly mating ball. I want to find you the perfect gown!" She gushed, bursting with enthusiasm.
I smiled softly, shaking my head. “Serena, I’ve got a lot of work to finish. And besides, I can’t afford anything from those booths.”
She pouted dramatically. “Don’t be such a killjoy, Dorothy. I’ll ask the other maids to cover for you, and I’ll pay for the gown.”
“You know you can't keep paying for my things,” I protested gently. “Yes, we’re friends, but you’re still the daughter of my employer. And honestly, I don’t think I even want to attend the mating ball.”
Serena rolled her eyes in annoyance. “Ugh, so you just want to stay mateless forever? Don’t you want to at least try? Maybe even share a kiss with someone?”
I laughed, shaking my head. “That’s crazy—”
She interrupted me, determined. “No, you’re crazy! You’re coming with me, and we’re getting you a gown. You’ll go to the mating ball, and that’s final! No buts!”
Serena then grabbed my hand and dragged me down the grand staircase toward the mansion’s front doors. But just as we were about to step outside, her mother appeared, raising a curious eyebrow.
“And where do you think you’re going?” She asked, her gaze shifting between us.
