Revenge of the Reborn LunaChapter 1
SENNA'S POV
The wind howled around me as I ran, my paws pounding the forest floor with desperate speed. The moon hung low in the sky, casting long shadows through the trees. Each breath I took burned my lungs, and I could feel the blood pounding in my ears. But I couldn't stop. Not now. Not when they were so close.
The wolves chasing me were relentless, their snarls echoing through the night, closing in with every heartbeat. I knew these woods better than anyone and had run through them countless times, but tonight, they felt foreign, the trees pressing in like walls, trapping me in this deadly game. My body ached from the bruises and cuts, but the adrenaline coursing through me dulled the pain. Only survival mattered now.
I pushed forward, my limbs straining as I navigated the familiar terrain. I was faster and more agile, but they had the advantage of numbers. Every snap of a twig, every rustle in the underbrush, reminded me that they were still there, hunting me, driving me towards...
My heart sank as the ground beneath me abruptly gave way, revealing the cliff's edge. I skidded to a stop, rocks tumbling into the abyss below. My breath caught in my throat as I peered down into the darkness, the drop so deep that the bottom was invisible, swallowed by shadow. There was nowhere left to run.
I whirled around, my fur bristling, eyes narrowed at the wolves that now circled me, their eyes gleaming with hunger and bloodlust. These were not my wolves. Not anymore. They were feral, maddened by their desire to tear me apart. I bared my teeth, a low growl rumbling in my chest as I stood my ground, determined not to go down without a fight.
But then, as if the night itself had conjured her, a figure stepped forward from the shadows, her presence silencing the pack with a mere flick of her wrist. My heart twisted painfully as the moonlight revealed her face.
"Paige," I snarled my voice a mixture of disbelief and fury. "So it was you all along!"
She smiled, that cold, twisted smile I had come to hate, her eyes glinting with malicious delight. She stepped closer, and the wolves parted for her, their loyalty clear. She had them under her control, every last one of them.
"Surprised?" Paige's voice dripped with mockery. "I thought you'd be smarter than this, Senna. But then again, you were always too trusting, too naive."
